With its original ropes long gone, our folding rope bed was definitely not sleeping tight!

Dating to the late 1800s, old age and hard use loosened the joints, leaving our bed wobbly and unstable. This was unacceptable for storage. The bed was hard to move and in danger of breaking. Collections staff put their heads together and found a solution.

Our registrar fabricated a custom corner fixture for each leg. Webbing wraps around the frame to hold the fixtures in place and compress the joints. The result is a stable and much happier rope bed resting in storage.
