Do you recognize this place? A peek back at the Mabery Gelvin Botanical Gardens in 1971 and a photo of the gardens from 2020. The trees have grown and the Swiss garden theme has transformed into a modern mix of a Zen garden, a koi pond, succulents and stumpery displays. Before 1971 the surrounding area was mainly agricultural. Even further back, before colonization, Mahomet was an expanse of seemingly endless prairies. Today the gardens serve as a space to connect with nature. What is the future of the world's natural spaces and the people who shape them?
